2022 Downhill Season Climax - Val di Sole

It has been an enthralling season, as ever but as we enter the final round of the downhill season, who is your money on to take the overall 2022 Downhill World Cup series title?

Contenders - male

Amaury Pierron has had an amazing year and could have wrapped up the overall in Canada despite Finn Iles winning had he finished in the top 23 but a crash meant that was not to be and so we go into the final round still not knowing who the season champion is. Despite this, Pierron still has to be the bookies favourite with only Finn Iles able to beat the French rider but as we have seen so many times in downhill, anything can and often does happen. Rain can come at an unfortunate time, a bad line choice can make all of the difference, chains can break; a certain rider can have an amazing performance and change everything as happened in Snowshoe in 2019.

Contenders - female

With the women, things are a bit more open with 3 riders able to take the overall. Can Camille Balanche maintain her lead despite breaking her collar bone and missing a round? Can Valentina Holl become overall champion to add to her World Championship and do the double or will Myriam Nicole come through from 3rd and take the overall? There are lots of permutations for the women, good luck to them all and may the best lady win!

Redbull TV

This will be the last time that we can watch the downhill on Redbull TV - so be sure to tune in and hear Rob Warner call the riders down the hill - we know Rob well, he has done the odd iconic commentary over the years!
