The Danny Harts Descend Bike Park Winter Race Series has been in the making for a while now but after months of planning, we are now in a position to formally announce our own 3 race series taking place over the winter months of 2022 and 2023!
Why a winter series?
We've always enjoyed winter racing, it was really helpful when Danny was coming up through the ranks to have a competitive series through the 'off-season' to help him maintain a competitive edge, measure his progression and of course have fun! We speak to park users regularly to seek their views, and it is clear that there are not enough downhill races and very little at all in the winter months.
Our experience of hosting mini downhill
races over the years has inspired us to provide additional opportunities for the young talented riders to help them prepare to race in BDS and SDA events and beyond. With this in mind, our race series will also be open to the 10-12 age category for advanced riders to race the same track as all categories. We are committed to supporting younger talented riders who are the future of this awesome sport. The bottom half of our hill is not for the faint of heart so we must be satisfied that all riders in this category are capable of completing the bottom sections. Race Dates
Race 1: December 11th, 2022
Race 2: January 8th, 2023
Race 3: February 12th, 2023
Race Tracks
All of our tracks are well maintained and have many challenging features. The race tracks will not be taped until the Friday before each race so that no-one has an unfair advantage come race day. The bike park will also be open to all on the Saturday ,prior to each race, so riders can get some additional practice on the hill. Bookings for Saturday uplifts can be made via our website.
Track Previews
Track previews will be available to all riders on our YouTube channel prior to the race taking place. We'll ensure that track previews feature an elite rider and a advanced young rider to demonstrate the challenges of the tracks for all potential riders.
Race Practice
Practice can only take place on the Saturday before race day. On the day of the race, each rider will have the opportunity to practice, followed by 2 race runs.
Prizes
We are delighted to partner with a range of businesses who have kindly pledged their support by sponsoring podiums for all categories.
In each category, the podium prizes are: *
1st: £75 2nd: £65 3rd: £55
* or equivalent 'prize'
Could you be the fastest on the hill?
If a rider enters all 3 races, and achieves the fastest time in each, they will win and additional prize of £1000!
Additional spot prizes will also be awarded by our partners such as, Cyclefix who are offering our 50th place finisher a full suspension service (shock & fork) and the 75th placed finisher an afternoon with Scotty Mears at Descend, focussing on suspension setup/riding!
